DESCRIPTION:Bowenwork utilizes gentle touch to influence the energy systems of the body. It is neither massage nor energy work but rather a distinct practice that requires a unique skill set and specialized training. \nAmerican Bowen Academy is authorized by Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia to provide this specialized training and to certify Professional Bowenwork Practitioners with a certification that is recognized around the world. \nIn the United States\, the Bowenwork certification program includes several components common to most bodywork practices (e.g.\, anatomy and physiology\, CPR\, and professional ethics). However\, it does not include training in techniques that are specific to massage or other hands-on practices because: \n• Such techniques are not necessary for the safe and successful performance of Bowenwork and\n• They actually can detract from the effectiveness of Bowenwork by diluting the work’s targeted and minimalist focus.
